What are service sector innovations and how do we measure them?
Services dominate all advanced economies but service innovations are still an under-researched topic. While the research on innovations in the service industries has undoubtedly made a considerable progress in the last 10-15 years, major theoretical and empirical questions still remain to be answered. Krzysztof Szczygielski discusses theoretical approaches, empirical techniques and selected empirical results in order to tackle definitional and measurement difficulties, and to create a unified conceptual framework that would encompass both manufacturing and services.
