The GREEN HEAT project kick off meeting

On June 17, the “GREEN HEAT – towards collaborative local decarbonization” (GREENHEAT) project external kick off took place at KEZO Research Centre of Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) in Jabłonna, Poland. Sebastian Bykuć (principal investigator) presented the overall aim of the project – to contribute to elimination of fossil-fueled boilers in Poland and present the feasible scenarios to decarbonize energy systems in Polish households. Then CASE’s Karolina Zubel briefed participants on the common barriers related to energy retrofits financing in currently available schemes and incentives, while Agata Dembek (Kozminski University) explained participatory design of the green transition process in detail.

Additional presentations were given by representatives of Ministerstwo Klimatu i Środowiska (Ministry of Climate and Environment), National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, Bank Ochrony Środowiska S.A. and Urząd Miasta Legionowo / Legionowo City Hall. This helped in building further partnership as well as mapping of possible synergies that the GREENHEAT project might build on. Also, providers of renewable energy technologies, including energy storage, were among the participants (Grupa STAY-ON, SunRoof).

Within the GREENHEAT, building on its previous experience especially in H2020 projects, CASE will be responsible predominately for the development of financing schemes and business models. Project Consortium consists of Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN), NILU – Norwegian Institute for Air Research, University of Bergen (UiB), Kozminski University, The Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education, CASE, and Fundacja KEZO.
