How will multiple transitions affect the European labour market? – a question to be analyzed by CASE in a four year project
The increasing importance of labour market policy appears to become a crucial topic in the different European Union member states. The new CASE project is focusing on the various possible scenarios in the future under the conditions of the socio-ecological transition and shall map the implications for employment overall. The project NEUJOBS - “Employment 2025: How will multiple transitions affect the European labour market” is funded through the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission and will last from February 2011 until January 2015.
CASE will complete the four years project NEUJOBS within a consortium of 29 partners led by CEPS - Center for European Policy Studies (Belgium). The research will produce a comprehensive study on various possible scenarios in the future; under the conditions of the socio-ecological transition and incorporating other key influences, mapping the implications for employment overall, but also in key sectors and relevant groups and aims at integrating all of this together under a single intellectual framework.
CASE research will focus primarily on the impact of ageing on the future size and structure of labour force, as well as on economic activity and labour productivity at older ages and consequently on the economic growth. Further, CASE experts will aim to bring spatial considerations into the research and focus on regional differences, as well as the urban-rural divide and their interaction with the socio-ecological and the demographic transition.
The objective of NEUJOBS shall be achieved by combining EU-wide studies based on existing datasets with small number of comparative research dealing with one or more countries. Furthermore, the output will be a mix of quantitative and qualitative analyses, foresight activities and policy analysis.
