An international conference on "Central and Eastern Europe Economic Transformation: Lessons Learned for Iraq's Reconstruction in Baghdad" was held on September 20-21, 2003 in Baghdad. High-ranking economic policy experts from ten Central and Eastern European nations and Russia described their experiences with economic transition to an audience of Iraqi ministry officials, Governing Council members, and academics. The conference sessions concerned privatization, private sector development, fiscal policies, the business and investment climate and political consensus for reform. Marek Dabrowski moderated session 1 entitled "What did we right, what did we wrong". The conference, hosted by the Council for International Cooperation of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA), was jointly funded by the U.S. Department of State and USAID.
