Changes in CASE Management Board

With the end of his second term as Vice-President of the CASE Management Board on September 30th, we would like to inform you that Maciej Sobolewski has decided to focus entirely on his research activities and continuation of his academic endeavors.

Maciej Sobolewski joined the CASE research team in the late 90’s, while he was still a student at the University of Warsaw, and became an assistant contributing to projects regarding Poland’s ability to safely and swiftly transition to a private economy. After graduating from the Faculty of Economic Sciences, he continued on to earn his PhD in economics in 2005, during which time he also served as a main researcher at CASE. He worked on numerous projects, focusing primarily on the Polish labor market in its transitional stages and the capacity of its youth to adapt expediently. Maciej left CASE for a short period in order to both teach economics at the University of Warsaw and advise the Polish telephone company Orange Labs. Maciej returned to CASE in 2011 to take the position of Vice President, where he has presided for three years.

We would like to thank dr. Sobolewski for his contributions and count on his engagement in the future. We are also very pleased that, since Maciej’s commitment to CASE’s mission remains strong, starting on October 1st, 2014, he will continue his cooperation with us as an expert and leader of large projects.

At the same time,  Dr. Christopher A. Hartwell will remain President of CASE Management Board, and dr. Izabela Styczynska will continue to serve as a Vice-President of CASE.

We wish Maciej success in his habilitation, and for Christopher and Iza - all the best for their upcoming term!
