Petru Veverita is an expert in macroeconomics and budget policy issues. His research focuses on public financial management and fiscal policies in transition economies as well as in developed economies. Mr. Veverita has authored several books and numerous research papers on various economic issues. He is a senior research fellow and a member of the Public Administration and Law Sub board of the Soros Foundation Moldova.
Mr. Veverita is now a Project Coordinator of the USAID Fiscal Reform Project in Moldova. During 2000-2001 he was deputy minister of the Ministry of Economy and Reforms. Prior to that, Mr. Veverita held the position of Director of the Budget and Financial Analysis Center of the Parliament of Moldova for two years. From 1991 to 1998 he took senior positions in the Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance.
