Marko Simoneti
Mr. Simoneti, born in 1958, graduated with honors at the Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana. He continued with studies at University of Zagreb and, finally, he received his M.A. and Ph. D. in economics from Cornell University, USA.
Mr. Simoneti holds the position of the Professor for finance at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana and, in addition, he teaches courses on financial institutions and corporate finance in MBA programmes.
Mr. Simoneti is currently working as the Executive Director of CEEPN - the international organization founded by the Central and Eastern European countries to support economic transition in the region by providing channels for sharing of experience, know-how, documentation and skills and to undertake regional activities related to economic transition.
Academic interests of Mr. Simoneti are mainly economic reforms in transitional economies. He published articles and books on development of capital markets, restructuring of banking sector, financial reforms, development of small scale enterprises, restructuring of enterprises and, above all, on the privatization issues in transitional economies.
Mr. Simoneti has served as a private sector development adviser to various international organizations (IBRD, EBRD, OECD, UNDP, UN-ECE), a speaker on various international privatization events, and a co-ordinator of many international conferences, technical workshops and training seminars in the field of economic transition.
