Poland’s EU accession put Polish economy on the right track. “Rzeczpospolita” Experts Club on the accession referendum’s 20th anniversary
On the referendum’s 20th anniversary “Rzeczpospolita” asked 55 experts from various universities, financial institutions, and think-thanks for their opinion on the consequences of Poland’s EU accession. 95% of them agreed with the statement: “Accession to the EU in 2004 has greatly accelerated Poland’s economic growth”.
“There is empirical data that supports this claim. Research results indicate that we may have gained up to 50% additional GDP increase in comparison to the scenarios where Poland did not join the EU” – says Jan Hagemejer, professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw, CASE Macroeconomics and Trade Director.
