The future of EU-MENA trade relations post-Covid-19

This Webinar will discuss the future of the EU’s trade relations with the MENA region in the post- Covid-19 global economy.

During this event, the key findings of the EuroMeSCo Policy Study on ‘Post-Covid-19 EU-Southern Neighbourhood Trade Relations’ will be presented and discussed. This study reviews the existing network of EU-MENA bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) and explores the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the intra- and inter-regional trade in goods and services.

Moreover, this event will discuss the recent trade-related proposals from the European Commission towards the MENA region. This includes, for example, the “Economic and Investment Plan (EIP) for the Southern neighbours” and the proposals put forward in the recent Trade Policy Review, such as the deepening and widening of the existing EU-MENA FTAs through the conclusion of ‘Deep and Comprehensive’ FTAs or Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreements.
