Technical Workshop of DEFINE Project in Warsaw

Researchers from CASE and the Institut für Höhere Studien (Austria) participated in the 4th Technical Workshop organized within the DEFINE Project (Development of an Evaluation Framework for the Introduction of Electromobility). During an event, which took place between the 9th and 12th March 2014 in CASE’s Warsaw office, many issues, such as Poland’s Social Accounting Matrix, vehicle market, electricity model, as well as emission data and quantification of the external costs, were addressed.

The DEFINE project focuses on the costs and benefits of introducing electromobility into three European Countries: Poland, Austria and Germany. Electromobility is often proposed as the solution to the problem of combining individual transportation with an ecologically sustainable development. A prediction of the effects of the anticipated change in the mobility paradigm, from a fossil fuel-based individual transportation system to one relying on electromobility and public transport, requires analyses of the general economic environment triggered by such a shift. Participating organizations intend to estimate and assess the full economic costs associated with a higher share of electric mobility in a framework that suits the complexity of the matter, considering both the economic and the environmental benefits.
