Shale gas conference in Warsaw

Warsaw, May 9th, at the Shale Gas Poland 2012 Conference, representatives of embassies, international institutions, media and Universities were discussing the three main topics relating to the prospect of shale gas exploration in Poland: geopolitics, economics, and technology.

During the first panel, the panelists were discussing if the exploitation of shale gas could possibly constitute an energy independent Poland, what impact the commercial exploitation of shale can have on Poland’s long term energy policy and whether shale wealth could alter Poland’s role in the European Union? 

The second panel focused on the economics, discussing whether shale gas could equal a social welfare state? During the third and last panel it was discussed which technologies would be most effective considering Poland’s environmental conditions.

The Conference was organised by the Casmir Pulaski Foundation (Fundacja im. Kazimierza Pułaskiego, FKP).
