Project Workshop: Assessing Needs of Care in European Nations (ANCIEN)

CASE hosted the 4th ANCIEN Workshop taking place on June 30th and July 1st in Warsaw.

The workshop provided a forum for the discussion of preliminary results of Work Packages (WPs) 1 to 6 and a preview of the work to be carried out in WPs 7 to 9. Among the researchers attending the conference were CASE experts Stanisława Golinowska, Agnieszka Sowa and Izabela Marcinkowska.

ANCIEN deals with the future of long-term care for the elderly in Europe, covering the questions of how need, demand, supply and use of long-term care will develop and how different national systems of long-term care perform.
Databases of EU countries are constructed, containing available data on LTC needs and use of the elderly. Participating partners from different countries cover the majority of the EU member states. State of the art demographic, epidemiologic and econometric models are used to project future needs and use of long-term care in representative member states with different LTC systems.
The project is carried out under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission under Health Cooperation Programme and will be completed in August 2012.
