Equal pay for equal work, regardless of your country of origin, seems only fair. However, equal treatment is not always guaranteed for certain aspects of social benefit schemes across all Member States. The European Commission aims to harmonize the treatment of local workers and those temporarily working in a Member State but live in another country. But how this should be done is still up for debate. Will working in the “old” EU countries become less beneficial for workers from the new Member States?
