Economic and Social Development of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Countries

A new publication containing a selection of research results from the EU FP7 project Prospective Analysis for the Mediterranean Region (MEDPRO), funded by the European Commission – DG for Research and Innovation, has been published this week. It covers a number of topics, ranging from factors of economic growth, macroeconomic and fiscal stability, trade and investment, Euro-Mediterranean and intra-regional economic integration, private sector development and privatizations, infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, financial sector development, poverty and inequality, education, labor market and gender issues.

The MEDPRO project itself aimed at contributing to the reform process in the political, economic and social agendas by broadening the level of knowledge on the interplay between the diverse set of challenges and providing deep insights into the prospected policy options and their outcomes.

The book published under the title "Economic and Social Development of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Countries" has been edited by CASE Fellows, Marek Dabrowski and Luc De Wulf in coopertaion with Rym Ayadi, from CEPS who was Coordinator of the entire MEDPRO project, and can be accessed on the website of SpringerLink.
