Collapsing into a Two-Speed Europe: The Role of Think Tanks
On January 30, CASE will hold a panel discussion on “Collapsing into a Two-Speed Europe: The Role of Think Tanks.”
The event is hosted by CASE on the occasion of the release of the Global Go To Think Tank Index 2017. The Global Go To Think Tank Index is the result of an international survey of over 7,500 scholars, public and private donors, policy makers, and journalists who helped rank more than 6,600 think tanks using a set of 28 criteria developed by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania. CASE was ranked number one think tank in Central and Eastern Europe according to the 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index.
The theme of this year’s launch of the Go To Think Tank Index is Why Think Tanks Matter to Policy Makers and the Public and will involve hundreds of think tanks and other civil society actors in approximately 50 countries. 70 cities will produce series of coordinated events that are intended to highlight the important role think tanks play in governments and civil societies around the world. The program at CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research will focus on the issue of two-speed Europe and the role that think tanks have to play.
The panel will discuss issues critical to think tanks in our region, especially the emergence of a two-speed Europe, the role of populism, and the future of the European project.
