CASE ranked the top think tank in Central and Eastern Europe

CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research has been ranked number one think tank in Central and Eastern Europe, according to the University of Pennsylvania Global Go To Think Tank Index Report for 2016. CASE also has the honor of being the third-ranked social policy think tank in the world, behind the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution, both in the United States.

Christopher A. Hartwell, President of CASE, noted that “This year’s ranking confirms CASE’s importance and its continued relevance in providing rigorous analysis in the region and globally. Entering our second quarter-century, we are heartened to know that our hard work has been noted. Our goals for the future are to improve upon this impressive success and continue to inform economic policy around the world. Now, more than ever, governments need sane economic advice, and CASE intends to be at the forefront of policy debates in the coming years.”

The think tank ranking was determined by a nomination process involving 4,750 international scholars, public and private donors, policy makers, and journalists, who then assessed 6,846 think tanks from all over the world.  The ranking has been conducted since 2006. The 2016 issue comprised 50 various categories such as Top Think Tank in the World, Top Domestic Economic Policy Think Tank, Top Social Policy Think Tank, and Best Advocacy Campaign.

For 2016, CASE also had an impressive showing as a Top Domestic Economic Policy Think Tank (10th place) and as a Top International Economic Think Tank (28th position).
