CASE is launching the second edition of the project "Financial ABC - household budget management for youth at risk of financial exclusion"

This year CASE is launching the second edition of the project "Financial ABC - household budget management for youth at risk of financial exclusion". We will conduct trainings for 240 children brought up in juvenile educational centers, socio-therapeutic centers for youth and orphanages from the mazowieckie, opolskie and wielkopolskie voivodships. Thanks to the trainings the youth will gain the knowledge in money management and will know how to avoid the debt loop and calculate the cost of credit. Also project participants will know how to assertively refuse to sign unfavorable financial agreements.

We will also develop a second part of the guidebook (LINK to the first edition) for teachers. In addition to such topics as household budgeting, savings, credits, work contracts with employers, or taxes, we will cover new issues, such as the operation of parabanks. Each theoretical issue will be assigned with practical materials - proposals for exercises to be carried out among youth. In addition to that, we will create new educational videos, for example on the subject of debt loops. (LINK to the video from the first edition of the project)

The authors of the report prepared by Supreme Audit Office in 2015 observed that those who were brought up in orphanages, often have problems with the realization of the simplest tasks and issues, including shopping or money management. They are also more likely to be homeless, unemployed and conflicted with the law.

The first edition of the project took place in 2020. We conducted trainings for 222 young people from the mazowieckie, warmińsko-mazurskie and podkarpackie voivodeships. The project is financed by a grant from the National Bank of Poland.
